2026 Atlanta Point-in-Time Count

The 2026 Point-in-Time (PIT) Count provides a snapshot of homelessness in the City of Atlanta. This year's count identified 3,060 people experiencing homelessness, a 6% increase from 2025.
Key findings include:
- 1,094 people were unsheltered, meaning they were staying somewhere not intended for habitation.
- Atlanta's overall homeless population increased from 2,894 people in 2025 to 3,060 in 2026.
- Homelessness increased 6% year over year, following a 1% increase between 2024 and 2025.
- Economic pressure and housing affordability continue to contribute to homelessness in Atlanta.
- 73% of people who entered Atlanta's homeless response system in 2025 reported experiencing homelessness for the first time, pointing to a concerning number of new households entering homelessness.
The PIT Count is not intended to capture every person experiencing homelessness. It is a one-night snapshot used to identify trends and help communities plan housing and services.
