Atlanta Opens The Winnwood

Atlanta has added 48 permanent supportive housing units with the opening of The Winnwood, the fifth property completed through the city's Rapid Housing Initiative.
What Is The Winnwood?
The Winnwood is a renovated apartment building with 48 studio and one-bedroom units for people experiencing homelessness. The property is also within walking distance of the Arts Center MARTA station, providing residents with access to public transportation.
This is permanent supportive housing, which means residents receive more than a place to live. Supportive services are available to help residents address barriers that can make maintaining stable housing difficult.
That can include case management, behavioral health services, substance use support, and connections to other community resources.
Why This Matters
The goal isn't just to get people off the street. It's to help them remain housed.
The Winnwood demonstrates another way cities can create housing without waiting for a new development to be built from the ground up. Atlanta acquired an existing apartment building and renovated it for permanent supportive housing.
