Two new affordable housing developments have opened in Atlanta's historic English Avenue neighborhood, adding 57 homes on properties that were previously vacant or blighted.

The developments, located at 839 Joseph E. Boone Boulevard and 646 Echo Street, were developed by Westside Future Fund as part of its effort to preserve affordability as investment continues across Atlanta's Westside.

How Affordable Are They?

This is where these developments stand out.

The 57 apartments are designed for households earning between 30% and 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI). That means at least some of the housing reaches considerably lower-income households than developments restricted only at 60% or 80% AMI.

The 839 Joseph E. Boone Boulevard development includes 33 apartments with one, two and three-bedroom options. It also includes three commercial spaces intended for neighborhood businesses.

The 646 Echo Street development adds another 24 apartments.

Together, they bring new housing to English Avenue without making every new home dependent on market-rate rents.
