McAuley Station: A Healthcare and Housing Vision Comes to Life

McAuley Station has officially opened, bringing affordable housing and healthcare together in one innovative development in Atlanta's Sweet Auburn neighborhood.
In October 2024, Pennrose, Mercy Care, and community partners celebrated the grand opening of Phase I, delivering 170 mixed-income apartments adjacent to Mercy Care's campus. The community includes workforce, affordable, and supportive housing for households earning between 30% and 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI).
The development goes beyond traditional affordable housing. Thirty studio apartments are designated as permanent supportive housing through Fulton County's Behavioral Health Department and Partners for HOME, while 10 units provide transitional housing for Mercy Care patients recovering from illness or experiencing housing instability.
Residents also benefit from direct access to Mercy Care's medical services, creating a unique model that combines stable housing with primary care, behavioral health, and other supportive services. The healthcare campus expansion, completed in 2022, allows Mercy Care to serve approximately 3,000 additional patients each year.
