One year after breaking ground, The Beacon at Cooper Street has officially opened its doors, adding 100 permanent supportive housing apartments for individuals experiencing homelessness in Atlanta.

Located at 405 Cooper Street SW, the development transformed a vacant two-acre city-owned lot into fully furnished studio apartments with on-site supportive services. Residents have access to case management, mental health care, substance use counseling, workforce development, and other resources designed to promote long-term housing stability.

The Beacon is the latest addition to Atlanta's Rapid Housing Initiative, joining The Melody and The Ralph David House as part of the city's growing network of supportive housing communities.

Mayor Andre Dickens called the opening an important milestone in Atlanta's affordable housing efforts, noting that The Beacon helped the city reach its goal of creating 500 rapid housing units while advancing the broader commitment to build 20,000 affordable housing units by 2030.

The opening of The Beacon reflects Atlanta's continued investment in expanding affordable housing and providing the support services many residents need to successfully transition out of homelessness.
